James Hill begins his first year as the LeTourneau University Director of Sports Information. Hill is the primary media contact for all 13 varsity sports and is in charge of administering the school's athletic website as well as the athletic department's Facebook and Twitter pages. Hill is responsible for coordinating all media activities for home events, as well as producing media guides and game programs for the YellowJackets.
Hill comes from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., where he served as the primary media contact for all 18 Division III intercollegiate sports in addition to maintaining the athletic website, organizing statistics, writing press releases and publishing selected media guides.
During his first year, Hill coordinated events including the popular "White Out Game" on January 20th, 2012 featuring Millsaps College Men's and Women's Basketball against Colorado College. He also oversaw the 2011 SCAC Volleyball Tournament held in Jackson last season. Hill also worked with Presto Sports as he assisted in constructing and upgrading gomajors.com.
He went on to work various events as well including statisitics for the Region 23 Junior College Tournament, play-by-play for the SCAC Baseball Tournament, play-by-play for 2012 NCAA Division III Central Regional, and put together game notes at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament.
Hill, a native of Monroe, Louisiana, spent four years on the campus of Millsaps College as a student from 2007 until 2011. In 2010-11, Hill was the “Voice of the Majors” as he conducted the play-by-play announcing for all Millsaps sporting events as well as the SCAC Tournament in basketball and baseball. He also served as the Sports Editor of the school’s weekly newspaper, The Purple and White.
Although Hill’s athletic career was cut short by injury, he was a member of the Millsaps football program that won three consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships. Hill was then hired as work-study by the Sports Information Department for which he served as the public address announcer for spring sports.
Hill graduated from Millsaps in 2011 with a degree in accounting and is the son of Frank and Irene Hill, both residents of Monroe, La. James has two older sisters, Christina and Diane Hill. He currently resides in Longview.
