Alan Wiederhold joined the LeTourneau athletics staff in September, 2010 as the university's sports information director.
Wiederhold brings an extensive background in sports journalism and sports communication to LeTourneau. He served as a graduate assistant in the athletic media relations department at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. during the 2009-10 academic year, acting as the primary contact for the men's and women's soccer and basketball teams.
Prior to moving to Mississippi, Wiederhold served two years as the Director of Basketball Media Relations at Huston-Tillotson University, a historically black college in Austin that competes in the Red River Athletic Conference. He combined that role with fulltime duties as the sports editor at the Seguin Gazette Enterprise newspaper during the 2008-2009 academic year.
During his time at Huston-Tillotson, Wiederhold handled all functions of athletic communications for the men's and women's basketball teams and served as an official statistician during the 2008 RRAC Basketball Tournament.
Since arriving at LeTourneau, Wiederhold has established himself as one of the most versatile and energetic SIDs in the American Southwest Conference, having worked postseason events in softball and soccer, as well as the ASC's crossover weekends in both volleyball and softball.
Wiederhold was previously the sports editor of the Llano County Journal and a contributing correspondent to the San Marcos Daily Record newspaper.
By joining the LeTourneau athletics staff, Wiederhold is making a homecoming of sorts. LeTourneau competes in the ASC, as does Texas Lutheran University, from which Wiederhold graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in kinesiology in 2003.
Wiederhold completed additional coursework in mass communications at Texas State University from 2005 to 2008, where he worked in the school's athletic media relations department and was an active member of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship.
A native of Deer Park, Texas, Wiederhold is the son of Dr. Alan D. Wiederhold and the late Wanna Wiederhold. He currently resides in Longview.
