Rothluebber's second-place finish leads LeTourneau at UT-Tyler

TYLER, TexasSpencer Rothluebber's individual second-place finish boosted the LeTourneau YellowJackets to a seventh-place team finish Monday and Tuesday at the UT-Tyler Fall Invitational at the Cascades in Tyler.

Rothluebber (Jefferson, N.H./Coastal Carolina) carded a par-71 on the second day of the event to give him a two-day total of one-over-par-143. He was in a position to tie field leader Elliot Bingham of Mississippi College, but Rothluebber's long birdie putt on his final hole came up just short, giving Bingham the win by one stroke.

Tyler Junior College won the team event thanks to four of its five scoring players finishing in the Top 20. The Apaches finished with a two-day total of 594 to lead the 14-team field.

LeTourneau golfer Jacob Clay joined Rothluebber in the Top 20 as Clay carded a two-day score of 150 to finish tied for 13th place. Clay shot a two-over-par-73 on Tuesday.

Steven Morris (Groves, Texas/Dulles) recorded a two-round score of 159, which tied for 45th place. Sophomores Eric Boone (Denton, Texas/Denton) and Hayden Adams (Newark, Texas/Allen) rounded out LeTourneau's scoring with identical 167s.

The YellowJackets as a team shot 616 over the two-day event, which included a combined score of 305 in the second round Tuesday. LeTourneau finished fourth among American Southwest Conference teams in the field, seven strokes ahead of Hardin-Simmons and nine strokes ahead of Concordia.

UT-Dallas finished second with a score of 596 to lead ASC schools, while Mississippi College and hosts UT-Tyler finished tied for third with scores of 605.
