MEN'S GOLF: Three YellowJackets record Top 10 finishes at TLU Invitational
BLANCO, Texas – Justin Weant fired a four-over-par-178 and Spencer Rothluebber and Jacob Clay finished in the Top 10 to lead the LeTourneau men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Texas Lutheran Invitational.
Weant finished fourth out of a field of more than 70 competitors as the Jackets finished ahead of five American Southwest Conference teams competing at the tournament. Weant carded rounds of 75 and 73 on Monday and Tuesday, and finished one stroke behind second place.
Rothluebber and Clay finished tied for seventh after finishing the event with two-day scores of 153. Rothluebber fired a 76 and 77 during his two rounds, while Clay rebounded from an 80 the first day to shoot a 1-over-par-73.
Eric Boone and Hayden Adams scored 165 and 168, respectively for the YellowJackets.
As a team, LeTourneau shot 618, four strokes behind second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor, and two-strokes behind California Lutheran.
Texas Lutheran won the event behind individual winner Ryan Kiel, who carded consecutive rounds of 5-under-par-67.
The Jackets will return to action Monday, March 28 when they open play at the UT-Dallas Spring Classic in Richardson, Texas.
