MEN'S GOLF: Rothluebber, Weant finish in Top Ten at ASC Championship, Jackets take fourth

HORSESHOE BAY, Texas – The LeTourneau men's golf team saw two of its players finish among the top 10 in the individual standings at the American Southwest Conference Championship as the YellowJackets finished fourth out of nine teams.

LeTourneau senior Spencer Rothluebber fired a third-round low of par-71 Tuesday to finish with a final score of 231, good for fifth place and seven strokes behind the winning score.

Texas Lutheran won the team championship with a final score of 923, 14 strokes ahead of UT-Tyler. Schreiner finished in third place with a team score of 943, one stroke ahead of LeTourneau.

Rothluebber edged first-year transfer and teammate Justin Weant by one stroke. Both Weant and Rothluebber showed significant improvement on Tuesday, as Weant shot 72.

Rothluebber carded rounds of 79 and 81 on Monday before turning in his round of 71 Tuesday. Weant shot 78 and 82 on Monday and then followed that up with a 72 on Tuesday. He finished in sixth place in the individual standings.

Both Rothluebber and Weant garnered all-ASC honors. Rothluebber was named to the ASC First Team, while Weant was named to the Second Team.

Jacob Walsh of UT-Tyler and Ryan Kiel of Texas Lutheran finished tied for first with scores of 224. Walsh was the winner of the individual championship.

The Jackets had one other competitor finish in the top 20. Jacob Clay finished tied for 18th place with a three-round score of 240. Clay carded a 76 during Monday's second round.

Eric Boone turned in a three-round of 243. Boone shot a 79 on Tuesday. Steven Morris fired a 253 for LeTourneau.
