MEN'S GOLF: Rothluebber takes second at Schreiner Fall Classic

KERRVILLE, Texas – Spencer Rothluebber's second-place finish led all YellowJacket golfers as LeTourneau finished third out of six teams at the Schreiner University Fall Classic on Tuesday.

Rothluebber finished with a two-day score of 143, one stroke behind individual winner Jimmy Keener of Schreiner. Rothluebber tied with Johnathan Sustaita of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Monday's first round saw Rothluebber fire a season-best 66 on the par-70 Scott Schreiner Golf Course in Kerrville. His Monday score was topped only by Sustaita, who shot a 64 during the first round.

As a team, the Jackets collectively shot 599, 16 strokes behind Mary Hardin-Baylor's event-winning score. The LeTourneau men's golf team won this event last year.

Jacob Clay also recorded a top 10 finish, as he completed the tournament in a three-way tie for fifth place with a score of 147. He fired a one-over-par-71 on the first day of competition.

Clay finished tied with Cheyne Kendall of Schreiner and Bryce Myburgh, a Mary Hardin-Baylor golfer who was competing as an individual at the tournament.

LeTourneau's Steven Morris rounded out the YellowJackets' entry in the Top 20, turning in rounds of 76 and 78 to finish in 18th.

Eric Boone rounded out LeTourneau's team score by shooting a 159, good for 27th place. Hayden Adams was also among the Jackets quintet, and he finished the event with a score of 163.

The Schreiner Fall Classic marked the end of the Jackets' fall season. One of the top teams in the American Southwest Conference, the YellowJackets will resume play in February.
