MEN'S GOLF: Rothluebber and Clay place in top five at Schreiner Spring Shootout

KERRVILLE, Texas – Spencer Rothluebber and Jacob Clay both finished in the top five as the LeTourneau men's golf team claimed fourth place Tuesday at the Schreiner Spring Shootout.

At Comanche Trace Golf Course in Kerrville, Rothluebber fired a two-day score off 6-over-par 150 to lead the YellowJackets. He finished in a third-place tie with Geoffrey Setiawan of Trinity.

Rothluebber held the low score from Monday's first round, as he shot a 1-under-par 71 despite cold and rainy conditions in the Texas Hill Country.

Fellow LeTourneau senior Clay also carded consecutive sub-80 rounds to finish in a fifth-place tie with John Dukes of Texas-Tyler. Clay shot 76 and 75 to finish with a score of 7-over-par 151 for the event.

The YellowJackets shot 627 as a team to finish in fourth place, 13 strokes behind Trinity, which won the team competition. The Jackets finished one stroke ahead of Schreiner in the 10-team field.

UT Tyler (615) and Texas Lutheran (627) finished second and third, respectively. Eight different ASC schools were represented at the Spring Shootout, with host Schreiner fielding two teams.

Eric Boone carded rounds of 84 and 78 to finish with a score of 162 for the Jackets. Teammate Hayden Adams finished two strokes behind, turning in a two-day score of 164.

Steven Morris shot a 172 for the Jackets quintet.

The Jackets will be action next week when they take part in the Mississippi College Spring Invitational, being held at Black Bear Golf Course in Delhi, La. First round play begins next Monday.
