Holt's goal lifts YellowJackets to win
IRVING, Texas – Dillon Holt scored a
pair of goals, including the game winner, as the LeTourneau
University men's soccer team rallied to defeat the University
of Dallas, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in overtime.
The Crusaders (3-6-2) jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the
18th minute on a goal by Aaron Tucker.
But LeTourneau (3-5-4) answered in the 80th minute as Holt
found the back of the net off an assist by Ben Stoeckmann to tie
the game at 1.
The YellowJackets, having played in overtime four times this
season, finally caught a break in double overtime as Holt scored
the game-winner off an assist by Trey McLaughlin with four minutes
remaining in extra time to give LeTourneau a 2-1 victory.
Kyle Davis recorded 11 saves for the YellowJackets, while Paul
Stauduhar had eight. UD out-shot LeTourneau 27-20, but the
YellowJackets had the edge in corner kicks, 14-5.
LeTourneau continues its four-game road swing 3:00 p.m.,
Thursday, Oct. 15 at Concordia-Texas in an American Southwest
Conference match.
