MEN'S SOCCER: LeTourneau topples Louisiana College 4-0

PINEVILLE, La. – The LeTourneau YellowJackets returned to their winning ways Thursday after cruising to a 4-0 shutout at Louisiana College.

At LC's Wildcat Stadium, the YellowJackets got goals from Dillon Holt (Boerne, Texas/Boerne), Trey McLaughlin (Sunnyvale, Texas/North Mesquite) and Edwin Raudales (Hurst, Texas/Hurst). Raudales' goal in the 56th minute was the first of his collegiate career.

The YellowJackets also benefitted from an LC own goal – which turned out to be the match-winner – in the 12th minute of the contest.

Thursday's contest could very well have been a statement game for the YellowJackets (5-7-2, 5-3 ASC), who are very much alive in the hunt for one of the six berths into the postseason American Southwest Conference tournament. The Jackets controlled every aspect of the match and greatly limited the Wildcats' scoring chances, outshooting LC 20-3.

The win over Louisiana College was the eighth for the YellowJackets in the last nine seasons; however, the Wildcats are not the pushovers they have been in years past. Louisiana College tied second-place Texas-Dallas 0-0 earlier in the season.

The only team to not lose to the Comets prior to Louisiana College in the fifth game of the season was then-No. 1 Trinity.

Holt's team-leading sixth goal of the season gave the YellowJackets a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute. McLaughlin gave the Jackets more breathing room nine minutes later with his second goal of the season.

LeTourneau goalkeepers Kyle Davis (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and Anthony Martinez (Jasper, Texas/Jasper) each played flawless halves en route to the combined shutout. Martinez made two saves in the second half.

The YellowJackets travel to Mississippi College for their last road contest of the regular season Saturday. Kickoff time against the Choctaws is scheduled for 3 p.m.
