McClanahan paces Division III runners at Louisiana Tech meet
RUSTON, La. – Three LeTourneau men's cross country runners finished with times under 25 minutes at the Mook 4 Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech University last weekend.
John McClanahan (Portland, Texas/Gregory-Portland) led all YellowJacket runners with a time of 21 minutes, 57.06 seconds, good for 17th place overall on the 6,400-meter course.
The top 20 finish by McClanahan was the best among NCAA Division III competitors in a field that included runners from Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State, Grambling and Centenary. The stellar showing earned the sophomore Player of the Week honors from the American Southwest Conference.
Sophomore runner Brendon Palmer (Westerville, Ohio/Home school) finished 28th with a time of 23:52.29. Junior Michael Felts (Mio, Mich./AuSable) recorded a 31st-place finish with a time of 24:58.02.
Darwin Price, Jr. of Grambling won the event with a time of 19:35.49.
The YellowJackets will return to action Oct. 9 when they travel to Irving to compete at the University of Dallas Invitational. Race time is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
