SOFTBALL: Mickelboro named ASC East Division Co-Hitter of the Week

AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
(Games of April 17-22)

EAST DIVISION CO-HITTERS OF THE WEEK

Christin Mickelboro, 2B, Sr., LeTourneau
LeTourneau senior second baseman Christin Mickelboro (Longview, TX / LHS) went 6-for-11 with two home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs over four games. Mickelboro also scored three runs and walked twice. She is LeTourneau's career leader in nine offensive categories, including batting average (.417), home runs (30), RBIs (137) and slugging percentage (.777).

Sarah Smaltz, C, Sr., Mississippi College
Mississippi College senior catcher Sarah Smaltz (Houston, TX / MS Gulf Coast CC) went 12-for-20 with two home runs, three doubles and 10 RBIs to fuel a 5-1 week. She also scored six runs and walked twice. She leads the Choctaws with a .410 batting average and 39 RBIs.

EAST DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Katelyn Thomason, RHP, Sr., Texas-Tyler
Texas-Tyler senior right-hander Katelyn Thomason (Spring, TX / Southeastern Louisiana) went 2-0 – including a no-hitter – and allowed only one run with 14 strikeouts over 13 innings of work. Thomason, who has now taken the division's top weekly hitting and pitching award this season, scattered four hits and walked just one batter. Her no-hitter came on the road in a 9-0 game in six innings against ASC East Division opponent Ozarks. She struck out eight batters in the gem. Thomason also collected six hits and five RBIs over five games at the plate for the No. 8-ranked Patriots.

 

WEST DIVISION HITTER OF THE WEEK

Ashley Jacobsen, SS, Fr., Texas Lutheran
Texas Lutheran freshman shortstop Ashley Jacobsen (Marion, TX / MHS) went 12-for-20 with a home run, a triple, two doubles, 15 RBIs and 12 runs scored to fuel a 5-1 week. Jacobsen, who finished the regular season as the ASC's batting champion at .455, also walked three times and had a six-RBI game in a win over Sul Ross State. The leadoff hitter stole four bases.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jordan Mundine, RHP, So., Texas Lutheran
Texas Lutheran sophomore right-hander Jordan Mundine (Bastrop, TX / BHS) went 2-0 with a save without allowing a run over 11 innings of work. Mundine scattered eight hits and struck out nine batters while issuing only one walk. Both her wins were complete-game shutouts against ASC West Division opponent Sul Ross State. She notched the save in a 3-1 game against Austin College.
