SOFTBALL: Mickelboro, Tuel named to All-ASC East squads

RICHARDSON, Texas -- LeTourneau second baseman Christin Mickelboro and outfielder Juliana Tuel were named to the All-American Southwest Conference East Division teams, the league office announced Wednesday.

Mickelboro (pictured), a Longview High School alumna, hit .427 with eight home runs to earn her third consecutive selection to the All-ASC East First Team. She finished second in the ASC East (and third in the conference) in batting average and second in the league in home runs.

Mickelboro's slugging percentage of .777 led the American Southwest Conference in 2012.

Tuel, a junior from White Oak, Texas, was named to the All-ASC East Second Team. She was also named to the Second Team in 2011.

Tuel finished second on the LETU sqaud with a .385 batting average. She finished in the top ten in the ASC in runs scored (37), hits (49) and triples (4).

Texas-Tyler senior utility player Katelyn Thomason, Mississippi College senior right-handed pitcher Courtney Nunn, Howard Payne junior outfielder Katie Poerner and Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore right-handed pitcher Rebekah Ragsdale earned the top individual honors from each division.

A senior, Mickelboro finishes her career as LeTourneau's all-time leader in nine offensive categories, including batting average (.417), home runs (30), RBIs (137) and slugging percentage (.744).

Additionally, five YellowJackets received All-ASC East Honorable Mention. Sara Whitehead, Anna Winter, Jourdan Glover, Brooklyn Greene and Ashley McPhail were recognized by the division's head coaches.
