BULLARD, Texas – LeTourneau's Leslie Lee and Candice Nishimura recorded top eight finishes as the women's golf team opened its spring season at the Tyler Junior College Spring Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
Lee fired a 77 on the second day of the event to finish with a two-day score of 18-over-par 160. Lee claimed second place, finishing 11 strokes behind winner Jacki Marshall of Tyler Junior College.
Nishimura carded rounds of 91 and 87 to finish her first event of the spring with a total of 178. Nishimura finished eighth place at the event.
The YellowJackets shot 716 as a team during the event, finishing third behind TJC and event winner Texarkana College. Four Texarkana players finished in the top seven to give the team a final score of 683, 20 strokes ahead of Tyler.
Colleen Fal finished in a tie for 10th place after shooting a 183. Fal had the second highest LeTourneau score in Monday's first round after firing an 88.
Ashley Woodley carded a two-day score of 199 to round out LeTourneau's team score. Elizabeth Zapata shot a 206 for the YellowJackets.
The YellowJackets will be in action next week when they will compete at Mary Hardin-Baylor's Lady Cru Spring Invitational at the Wildflower Country Club in Temple, Texas.
