WOMEN'S GOLF: YellowJackets finish in upper half of Lady Cru Spring Invitational

TEMPLE, Texas – Leslie Lee shot a 164 over both rounds of the Mary Hardin-Baylor Lady Cru Spring Invitational, held at the Wildflower Country Club in Temple, Texas.

Lee shot an 84 in the opening round Monday and then shaved four strokes off her score with an 8-over-par-80 in Tuesday's final round. Her two-day score of 164 placed her in a tie for 14th place at the tournament, which featured several non-Division III programs.

The YellowJackets shot 700 as a team, good for seventh place out of 14 teams. LeTourneau finished three strokes behind UT-Tyler.

Candice Nishimura turned in the best round for the YellowJackets, firing a 79 on the second day of competition to give her a two-day score of 169. Nishimura finished in a tie for 21st place.

Ashley Woodley and Colleen Fal carded scores of 182 and 185, respectively, to round out LeTourneau's team score of 700. Elizabeth Zapata also competed for the Jackets, finishing the event with a score of 194.

McLennan Community College of Waco won the event with a final team score of 634 after three of its players finished in the Top Ten.

The YellowJackets finished ahead of Division II program Texas A&M-Kingsville, two NAIA squads (Oklahoma Baptist, UT-Brownsville) and two NCAA Division III programs (McMurry, Southwestern).

The YellowJackets will be in action Monday and Tuesday of next week when they compete at the Texas Lutheran University Invitational, which will be held at Vaaler Creek in Blanco, Texas.
