Road unkind to LeTourneau
CLINTON, Miss. – The LeTourneau
University volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-2 American
Southwest Conference East Division decision to Mississippi College
Monday at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
Mississippi College (12-13 overall, 6-11 ASC) took the opening
game, 25-19, but LeTourneau (6-19, 2-13) battled back for a 25-22
win in the second set. The Lady Choctaws rolled to a 25-13 victory
in the third game, only to see the YellowJackets dominate the
fourth set with a 25-17 win to force a fifth game. Mississippi
College jumped out to a big lead, forcing LeTourneau to play from
behind, and the Lady Choctaws earned the 15-9 win and a 3-2 match
victory.
Kristen Chapman led the YellowJackets offense with 14 kills
and 13 digs her sixth double-double of the season. Kathryn Drinkard
recorded 32 assists and 11 digs. Magen Douglas had a team-high 17
digs to lead the defense, while Crystal Read and Kayla Blucher had
13 and 12, respectively.
LeTourneau returns to the court 5:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30 in
Belton, Texas to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor in an American
Southwest Conference East Division match.
