Volleyball Announces Campbell as Assistant Coach
LONGVIEW, Texas – LeTourneau volleyball head coach Scott Peluso announced Tuesday the hiring of Sandra Campbell as assistant volleyball coach.
"We are very excited to have Sandra as a part of our volleyball family," Peluso said. "She not only brings a great knowledge of the game and a wealth of experience, but also a genuine passion for the spiritual growth of our athletes. She will be working with all of our athletes, but will be directly responsible for coaching our middles. God continues to move in our team, and she is another huge blessing to our growing program. I am looking forward to working with Sandra as we move forward into an exciting time for LETU Volleyball."
Campbell comes to LeTourneau from Erskine College in Due West, S.C, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in athletic training in May of 2012. She was a two-year member of the Erskine volleyball team, earning the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year Award in 2011 after a season in which she led the league in kills per set (3.92), was ranked second in blocks per set (1.00), and finished fifth in hitting percentage (0.303).
"It was by God's hand that my future became set with in the volleyball program at LeTourneau University," Campbell said. "I hope I can help in furthering the program in a positive manner. I am excited to work with Coach Peluso, and I absolutely cannot wait to see what God has in store for these girls, the program, and the athletic department, as well as LeTourneau as a whole."
Campbell was also a First Team All-Conference Carolinas selection in 2011 as well as 2010. She also played two years for the volleyball team at Division I South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C., before transferring to Erskine.
Campbell spent the summer of 2012 at the Pilot Point Athletic Department in Pilot Point, Texas, where she served as Director/Camp Coordinator. There, she taught high school and middle school students the fundamentals of volleyball.
Prior to her time at Pilot Point, Campbell spent three months as a volleyball coach for Club South in Spartanburg, S.C. She coached the 18 National Regional Club South volleyball team, and also served as the assistant to the Tournament Director/Coordinator of the Palmetto Regional Tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
Campbell spent the summers of 2010 and 2011 working for the Pilot Point Athletic Department. In 2010, she was a summer league volleyball coach and a Pilot Point High School volleyball camp counselor. Campbell coached both Pilot Point High School's varsity and junior varsity teams in a summer league for local high schools, and taught high school and middle school students the fundamentals of volleyball.
From November 2008 through April 2009 and then again from November 2009 through April 2010, Campbell coached the 12 National Club South volleyball team in Spartanburg, S.C. She also served as the assistant to the Tournament Director/Coordinator of the Palmetto Regional Tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
Campbell worked in the summer of 2009 as the Pilot Point High School Volleyball Camp Counselor, teaching high school and middle school students the fundamentals of volleyball.
In the summers of 2007 and 2008, Campbell was a camp counselor for The Master's Academy Volleyball
Camp, where she taught high school and middle school students the fundamentals of volleyball.
Campbell has held a great presence in the community, singing in a gospel choir, participating in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and being a part of the choir and praise and worship band at Midway Church. She also served as a children's ministry Sunday school teacher at Midway.
Campbell resides in Longview, Texas.
