Leman's 6th-place finish leads LeTourneau at ASC Championship
TYLER – Nicole Leman finished sixth out of 93 competitors as the LeTourneau YellowJackets claimed sixth place in the team competition at the 2010 Women's ASC championship meet at UT-Tyler.
Leman, a native of Anchorage, Alaska (Grace Christian), finished the six-kilometer course with a time of 24 minutes, 31 seconds. She led the YellowJackets in each of the last four races.
Rebecca Westrup (Coldwater, Kan./South Central) also recorded a top 20 finish, finishing 20th with a time of 25:37.58. It was the second time in as many meets that Westrup placed in the Top 20.
Taryn Fleet (Silverdale, Pa./Perkasie) and Corrine Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Aleithia) placed in the top 40 for the YellowJackets, finishing 38th and 39th, respectively. Fleet finished the race with a time of 27:15.73, while Stoltzfus, a second-generation LeTourneau athlete, completed the course with a time of 27:18.80.
Ryo Omine (Wheaton, Ill./Okinawa Christian) completed LeTourneau's scoring by finishing 57th with a time of 29:36.41. Hollie Bryant (Howe, Texas/Howe) also competed for the YellowJackets, completing the race with a time of 31:26.74.
Paced by individual champion Lindsey Hinton, Hardin-Simmons claimed the team championship, as three of their top five competitors finished 7th place or better. LeTourneau finished sixth out of 13 teams.
