Leman, Westrup finish in top 20 at Centenary Invitational

SHREVEPORT, La. – LeTourneau's Nicole Leman was the only runner from an NCAA Division III program to finish in the Top 10 Saturday at the Centenary College Invitational on Saturday.

Leman, a sophomore from Anchorage, Alaska (Grace Christian School), completed the six-kilometer race with a time of 24 minutes, 43 seconds, good for 8th place in the overall individual standings.

LeTourneau was the only Division III program represented among the top 26 finishers of the race. Rebecca Westrup (Coldwater, Kan./South Central) finished 19th with a time of 26:05.

Leman and Westrup's strong showings helped LeTourneau to a sixth-place overall team finish, and first among NCAA Division III and NAIA programs. American Southwest Conference rivals East Texas Baptist and Louisiana College, and host Centenary – which will join the ASC next season – also competed in the meet.

The YellowJackets finished behind four NCAA Division I programs and Lon Morris (Junior) College.

Corinne Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Aleithia) finished 37th among the 59 competitors with a time of 28:37. Ryo Omine (Wheaton, Ill./Okinawa Christian) finished 41st after completing the race with a time of 29:00.

Sophomore runner Hollie Bryant (Howe, Texas/Howe) rounded out the LeTourneau entry with a time of 32:19.

The YellowJackets will return to action Oct. 30 when they travel to Tyler to compete at the ASC Championships. Match time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
